Can I burn petition in candle flame instead of placing underneath candle??

I have a very nosey live in baby daddy and not in the best situation. Was wondering if I can write my petition, chant and pray over candle ritual then burn it over the flame instead of leaving it in the bottom. I don’t feel comfortable with him finding it and being in my business.. he was already questioning why I’m doing voodoo? Why is his name on such and such candle? Ect lol
