Greetings! I was really looking forward to honouring Damballah & Ayida Wedo on their day today, March 17, but then I just started my cycle a few days ago.
I feel like I’ve read somewhere that we shouldn’t light his altar when we’re menstruating, but now I can’t find where that was written.
Can anyone with experience honouring Damballah speak to this?
I personally wouldn’t invoke him while menstruating as he does not like the smell of blood. In fact, if you are a menstruating or have an open wound I would avoid approaching Damballah or touching his things until you are in the clear. He is a pure Lwa and appreciates cleanliness. Burn him after you are done menstruating and explain to him how you didn’t want to be disrespectful in regards to that. Damballah is a sweet Lwa and he will understand. Celebrate him the following Thursday when you are off your cycle. He would appreciate that.
I know for a fact he don't like the smell of that I was the one who might of asked that question but yeah that would be a no no
