It’s not necessary unless you are burning your candle in a closed off area and it needs air to breathe.
Lala does not mention anything about that in her instructions so I would say no. Just do what she says in the book. You open your windows prior to candles when your cleansing your home with sage, palo santo so that the negative forces your telling to leave have a way out .
