So last night I lit domination, I had 45 seconds left and the herd caught on fire. is that a negative sign. my first alarm went off and everything.

At the end of a burn its normal for them to catch on fire and self extinguish if it's too much snuff
While you are chanting you have to pay attention to that, move the herbs away from the flame until enough of the candle melts. You should have a calm flame. As LaLa said the candles were not intended to burn like that.
