I do not have a alter yet. How would I have to set up my candle for now? I see a lot of people put crystals and stones. Or can I just burn it on my kitchen counter

You can burn it anywhere as long as the space is clean and safe for burning candles. I received my Halo today too, and I also do not have an official altar yet. I’m still burning Halo tonight tho! 😏☺️💖
