When using halo can I write names down on a piece of paper or does it have to Be written on the candle

I did both
You can write their names and dates of births on the candle or you can write the names and dates of births on a piece of paper and place it in a jar with a lid (if you have any personal belongings of your targets add them too) and place the candle on top. But if you don’t have a jar, you can place the piece of paper under the candle.
