I want to make an alter for my ancestors but I don't know them. I don't have any pics, names or personal items. How would I go about communicating and making an alter for them?

I converted a book case for my ancestral altar and draped it with a white sheet. All of my “work” is discreetly stored on the shelves. I have pics of my immediate ancestors and a note pad with the names of my ancestors/family on them. Make sure to have all 4 elements represented on your altar, a clean glass of water and if you don’t have items they’ve owned you can place items that they liked. Talk to them and they will guide you to what they like. A mediumship reading may help you to connect with them to find out not only their names but their likes also.
From what I've read you call on them using your family name.
I'm also want to do this my grandmother just past have her photos, is that okay? Also what to do after and offerings? And signs of communication? And how to dismiss?
Call on your ancestors known and unknown with your best interest at heart. Light a white candle and leave out a glass of water.
