Wrap foil paper around the top of the candle jar in the shape of the a dome. It will cause the sides to melt and the candle to burn evenly. I usually roll clean tissue palaver to siphon the melted wax instead of pouring it off. You can also snuff, lit it cool for a bit and trim the wick before relighting and chanting.
Mine burned slow too but at the end that flame was crazy.
