It depends on what your petition is, you’re doing love work and it’s for the both of you then it’s both you and your target, if it’s something else like and only pertaining to you, you are the target.
You don’t have to go through Papa Legba for Solomonic Rites, the crossroads you should be using is the Mercury rites. Now if you’re doing voudo rites I.e. Erzulie Freda, Ogou then you can go through Papa Legba but it’s not always necessary to do so.
