Court/Legal Bundle

I finished with court around 10:00 a.m. this morning. I was facing four assault and battery charges because my son ran away twice, January 2019 and September 2019. My son previously lived with my mother until August 2018. His transition to living with me has been extremely hard. He struggles with lying a lot. I personal feel like they did the most and completely understand what we as black people go through when dealing with the judicial system.

I have a clean record, an amazing career, but that didn’t stop the police or the prosecutor from trying to ruin my life. I ended up being arrested in September 2019, the day after my son was found. Despite what I told the detective, he was hell bent on charging me with something. The detective’s reason for charging me at the time was because kids only run away when they’re being abuse. I originally had one charge that I was facing, which didn’t make sense to me.

I burned my first Court candle In December 11, 2019, two days prior to appearing in court. the attorney that I hired at the time did not show up and resulted to the case being continued to February 2020. By January 2020, I received a phone call that I had a new warrant out for my arrest. Come to find out , it was three more assault and battery charges. I got a new attorney’s and February 2020 because I didn’t feel confident in the previous attorney’s ability to represent me. Being that I had a new attorney, He asked for a continuation until March. COVID 19 occurred and I was rescheduled until today.

I burned the Court/Legal Bundle as directed and to my surprise all four charges were dismissed. My son told the truth and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He expressed being coached back in September 2019 to say certain things to land a charge. They tried to do the same thing today, but the truth set me free.
