He definitely not the devil ; he is a gatekeeper and road opener - what you read is simply not true ; being on this forum is very educational. I hope that lala sees this and can spread more light.
The devil no such thing in African spirituality there was no devil it was made up for control of the slaves, papa is kind I love him, he opens the gates so you may pass through, now some entities feed of fear so your the one in control
I agree @Amber Iām just tryna understand the part about having a continuous relationship with a LWA!! [@The Conjure] I just want to know because I wouldnāt mind it being temporary while I have the candles. I donāt want to have to keep up with that and I never know what Situation Iāll be in ! Like last year I learned about St expedite and had the money to buy the tools and candles etc but once I got what I wanted I learned about offering to him after he brings me what I wanted and I couldnāt afford to get his offerings but I never got my wish but regardless I learned from others experiences
Personally, I think these beliefs about spirits being āthe devilā and whatnot just come from a bunch of religious/Christian dogma. I grew up Jehovahās Witness and was taught that anything related to magic, tarot cards, seeing ghosts or communicating with spirits was āthe devilā and Iād go to hell. Thatās all bullshit.
While I do believe that there is a lot of evil and negativity that we must protect ourselves from, Hoodoo and Vodou is our ancestral heritage from the ancestors all the way back to Africa And the slaves who made the crossing. I no longer let Christian and Abrahamic dogma scare me away from connecting and working with our ancestors, guides and spirits.
I believe as long as you do your homework, pay the proper respects and offerings to the spirits and take what we are doing seriously, thereās no reason to fear the LWA. That said, always protect yourself spiritually because there are spirits and entities out there that can and will do us harm.
My concern too that why I only stick with the spell and planetary candles. 5th pentacle of Mercury is wonderful to open doors and clear blockages. I have had great results with mercury candles. I guess go with your gut feelings. If you donāt feel safe using candles like legba then just do the planetary candles they work just fine.
Iāve heard nothing but great things about him, I want to work with him, the thing is, Iāve heard nothing but great things about Erzulie Freda as well, but when I do research it says that Spirits get upset if you donāt make them your one and only and they want to be special and your only God/Goddess etc so Iām confused and nervous. I ordered both candles but am curious because I donāt want to offend any spirit
That's folks that don't understand and put anything out there in the world just to have something to say. He's not the devil. He opens doors gatekeeper.
