Future reference, dear: if you have any candles that are fully loaded (lots of herbs around the wick), light your wick and when the wick starts to melt the wax a fair amount, take a butter knife or something flat and heat resistant (one you would only use for this: consider it an altar/work tool) and push those surrounding herbs into the melted wax to "wet" them. Sometimes we have to watch our candles a moment when they're alight before we chant just to make sure these things don't happen. Think of it as part of the work, making sure things are in order and ready before you officially start your chant
