When I first lit my GF yesterday the wick was drowning and I decided to just leave it and as it progress the flame got brighter

If it's lit, keep it lit. Your flame will get larger as it burns. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't.
You s as we going to monitor it. If it’s lit I would just let it stay lit.
