I want to light this candle for my friend and myself before our vacation. Since we are both the targets (I will be present, she won’t), do I just state our names along with the chant and put nothing under the candle (no name, no picture)?

Since your doing it for your friend and yourself I would suggest u lit for yourself first for the 6 hrs then for your friend you will place her pic, DOB and location.
