So I did my unhex on myself and my target. I chanted the request for myself for 4 minutes, then chanted for him for another 4..I put his pic and the Chants for us both under the candle and wrote his name on the side. I didn't snuff it.. just let it burned. Was I suppose to do it separately?

No. You did it correct.
You were fine you can do the big candles for up to 3 people.
I doubt if you did it wrong
