Hey y’all ! 2 days ago my boyfriend told me my package of Lalas candles had arrived which contains a Papa Legba candle ( I had them sent to his place). Ever since he told me about it I’ve been seeing 333 everywhere. I was in Walmart & when I looked at my phone I had accidentally pressed the number 3 3x. I was literally talking about him & then pulled up to a house I was delivering to & the license plate had 333 on it. I even went to the restroom & saw random ass pennies on the floor so I’m like ..Papa is that you 👀 My dilemma is that I’m not sure if I should burn the candle yet. I was gonna wait until I got my own place & then give him his space since I’m not able to give him a big altar rn. However, my question is when it comes to working with Papa Legba, is he someone you should have a permanent altar up for? Or is he someone you can work with temporarily & once he has granted your wish you can stop? I’m not ready to become a devotee at the moment which is why I ask. Also, when you burn his candle, is it supposed to be burned completely or at least 6hrs ?

Idk I feel like that is a personal choice you need to make yourself regarding working with a certain LWA or their altar. However, I do think that a spirit especially a LWA will feel disrespected and used if you only use them temporarily. think about it, if I came up to you and said, hey, am at risk of homelessness again can I work with you only until you give me what I want and then ghost you? won’t you feel like I was insincere and using you even if I tell you? Honestly though they can read our thoughts and get in our mind so it isn’t even a matter of deceiving them because we can’t... They see us even when we don’t see them.
just know what you are doing and why. And yes am sure not everyone works with a LWA forever.. or vice versa. It happens; idk if I could because of the issue of space. I don’t fear Papa Legba or Papa Demballah and I don’t have their candles because no privacy and I practice in secret. But the thing is I am not scared of them either despite some people saying they are. Why would I fear them? Fear of what? The unknown.. I don’t think there is wisdom or any room of having fear when we recognize we are working with those we cannot physically see all the time unless they want to show themselves to us in any shape or form. this is why having the faith is important.. But you have to trust yourself first, majick o no majick, LWA or not..
I have a permanent altar to him. I honor him every Monday and Saturday. Unless I’m on my time of the month. (Just to be on the safe side.) so far, he hasn’t played any tricks on me that I know of. But! It’s what he is known for. So if he had. I would have acknowledged it. Had a good laugh, And moved on. I know everyone’s experience is different. But You shouldn’t be “fearing” for your life. Something doesn’t seem right. I think he may have been trying to get your attention or something like that.
I have a permanent altar for him. Thinking about getting him a bigger one. He has opened up alot of doors. I work with him regularly. I would say if you are going to work with him alot keep it. But if you have to take his altar down, talk to him and let him know why. Working the LWA is a big responsibility. I have had Damballah for almost half a year now. Have not lit him yet or developed an altar. I be busy a lot and I have to ask papa Legba's forgiveness a time or two because I missed his day and offering because I simply forgot what day it was. But he is understanding and kind. Just to think to pick up another altar and having to remember another day. I don't think I'm there just yet. But I did ask Damballah for another sign to work with him if he's still interested and he sent back a rainbow yesterday on a door. So i may have to get an altar ready. I will have room for one in a couple of months hopefully and i'm hoping him and Erzulie Freda can share a space because i'm interested in her as well but limited on space
Ok I literally burned papa candle and build him a temporary alter for 6 weeks or so every Monday I spoiled that guy ,..it started getting scary when pennies started missing on the alter and I found one missing outside my door , and he was playing so many tricks with me ... so I received his messages and fought for my life I then ran 3 crossroad each one morning left 3 pennies and the came hime packed up his alter and left it at a crossroads.
