During the lighting of the candles WE do off prayers to our spirit guides(ancestors) and guardian angels by thanking them (always) for all the blessings that are bestowed upon us &the blessings that are yet to come!!!!! when we are finished with the candle we use a ceramic plate to snuff the candle
I only give thanks after the spell is over. Remember LaLa says in the book that we speak with dominion because basically you are in control. Never pray or ask when burning candle because you are giving command. However speak with respect and dominion but never beg or pray.

Good question, Me personally I have a habit of thanking the spirit when I snuff my candles.
For my understanding is after you chant and also when you drop off the containers. I also saw that you can pray a protection chant after is done.
