You can have quite a few ancestor altars in one room.Some of the altars for the lwas must be separated.It is my understanding that Damballah works well with Erzulie Freda. Papa Legba has to be separate from all other altars.
Well, it’s generally recommended to keep a permanent altar for the lwas.Not doing so is similar to just using them. If a person only called on you when they needed you, would you like that person? Or be inspired to help that person? It is also wise to build a relationship with your ancestors first, and become a devotee of them. They are the ones responsible for your very existence.
